Time tested in its efficacy, the strategy of divide and conquer has been used by successful military commanders for ages. Define and designate your enemy, and by any means necessary, including, ruse and subterfuge, break up the block whether it be that of an army or that of an ideology. Better known in pre-Napoleonic warfare, the strategy has proven itself and is widely used today, although predominately in the political arena, than that of military pursuit.
Government by the people has been pushed aside progressively, in the United States for a good number of years, and the resulting situation is one of profit and power, and not of governance. A great majority of elected officials are “career politicians” on a quest for power and the monetary and ego stimulating satisfaction that it brings.
No people united, would accept, once discovered, the farce of the two party system of our time, yet divided into these two distinct groups; they become the unknowing prey of those who would conquer. A majority of seventy percent of the American population could and would not be ignored or placated, but a country divided furnishes de facto, the desired division that perpetuates the facility to conquer.
After a disastrous performance by one “side” or the other, the country divided, will simply change to the other side in hopes that things will change, but that does not influence those in power. The career politician is more than willing to share the political booty with his counterpart from across the aisle. The stumbling block is a united people, ergo the interest in perpetuating the rigid two party system. Nevertheless, we are not dupe, and after a number of years, with less than satisfactory results the united people will cry for change and demand the end of the two party system, enter the pundits. Who better to give advice than educated and thoughtful men, Americans, that are looking out for the general interest?
With the arrival of the internet and the existence of a huge number of independent or non-affiliated news outlets, what better way to inform the American public than that of the real time media? The career politicians, from both ends of the spectrum, and for the most part, in their totality, have their proverbial backs against the wall now.
Now that they’re on to us what can we do! Let’s stay calm and think about this. The American people are going to hear the truth and we are going to lose our hold on power, shared or otherwise! What to do ! Wait, I have a friend on the Chipmunk channel, maybe we can get him to champion our set of ideas. Good idea, but does he share our philosophy? Money will persuade him to share our philosophy regardless. Damn, great idea.
Listening outside the door, a career politician from the opposition party thinks to himself oh those dirty rats, well two can play that game. This is where the political “debate” is today. People, some very well educated, some just talented provocateurs, are paid to say what one or another side of the bi-polar, black or white, but never grey equation tells them to say.
One set of pundits for bleeding heart liberals and one set for neo-con conservatives and their respective derivatives, but always either blue or red, thus divided. Unity is force, a house divided cannot stand. Wake up, stop swallowing the oftentimes slick and even entertaining, albeit hollow pundit rhetoric and get back together for the good of the nation
